Scuba Classes

Scuba Diving Classes

Austin’s Diving Center has always used independent scuba instructors who are not our employees. We prefer this because it allows the student to learn without the constant bombardment of sales pitches from an instructor who is also a sales person. These instructors are experienced professionals that never cut corners to speed you through the educational process.

Classes start with Open Water/Junior Open Water and go to Assistant Instructor. Specialties such as Nitrox, Deep Diver, Technical, Cavern, Spearfishing, Freediving, and many more are also available. All classes adhere to the standards set forth by PADI, NAUI and IANTD. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the instructors listed below.

Freediving Classes

The next available course dates with openings are: June 25 - 26

You are invited to take a FII (Freedivers Instructors International) Level 1 course with our resident instructor Luis Vazquez. This course is ideal for scuba divers, recreational free divers, and beginners wishing to master the basic free diving techniques allowing you to confidently free dive to depths up to 66 feet. The FII Level I course is a two day course and covers everything, including:

  • Level 1 Safety & Problem Management for Freediving
  • Level 1 Breath-Hold Technique DevelopmentFreediving Classroom
  • Level 1 Confined Water Rescue and Buddy Supervision Techniques
  • Introduction to Freediving Specific Equipment
  • Basic Physics and Physiology for the Level 1 Freediver
  • Freediving Technique Development
  • Correct Breathing for Freediving
  • Equalization Techniques for the Level 1 Freediver
  • Open Water Rescue Skills, Buddy Supervision and Self Evaluation

The Level 1 course is held at the Austin’s Diving Center educational lab in Miami, Florida. Ocean sessions are run on a private U.S. Coast Guard certified vessel with a hired licensed captain working on Luis' schedule. What this means is that we get more ocean time than any other course, and we can stay out later making sure every student has adequate time to work on perfecting their skills and technique. To provide the quality of education that I believe in, my courses are strictly kept to a maximum of 6 students!!
